About

Event Address: 521 Chestnut Hill Avenue, Baltimore, MD, USA

Description:

The First of Many Series (TFOMS) is an exhibition and movement that shines a light on the creative journeys of 50 artists from or based in Baltimore.

More than an art showcase, TFOMS is a celebration of community, collaboration, and self-expression, amplifying the often-overlooked voices of local creatives and reshaping the narrative around the role of the artist in the city.

At the heart of this series are intimate portraits created using expired peel-apart film and a Polaroid Big Shot camera, famously used by Andy Warhol. These images captured by Jasmine Washington embrace the beauty of imperfection, capturing the raw energy and resilience of Baltimore’s creative community. Each portrait tells the artist’s unique story, reflecting both their personal journey and their connection to the city’s evolving cultural landscape.

Beyond the visual exhibition, TFOMS includes artist-led workshops, panel discussions, and performances, all designed to foster dialogue and strengthen the local creative ecosystem. The project emphasizes the inseparability of the artist and their work, challenging the traditional view that the artist is secondary to the art itself.

TFOMS is an opportunity to empower artists, create inclusive spaces for expression, and inspire a new model of creative collaboration rooted in authenticity and community.

“Celebrating Creativity, Empowering Artists, Building Community.” - Arthur Fitzhugh III, TFOMS Curator

Opening Reception at TLRAR in The Outpost on April 5th, from 6-8PM.
